With passenger levels having been consistently rising over the last 10 years, with numbers now reaching over 1,600,000 passengers for the first 6 months of 2018, it´s time that Dalaman airport got a new terminal, and that´s just what they opened on the 5th July. Serving the resorts of Fethiye and Marmaris, the 250 million euro structure now provides a crucial and more modernised transport hub for the Mediterranean resort of Turkey, and with more modernisation work occurring on the existing terminal, the airport will aim to handle more than 15 million passengers every year, once everything has been completed.

Allowing for both domestic and international travel, Ryanair which is Ireland´s leading airline and one of Europe´s leading low cost airlines, started their first flights from Dublin to Dalaman from the end of June onwards, with flights starting from as little as €20, up until the end of October. It´s great news for travellers from Ireland in general, as many requests were flooding in from passengers complaining about flight availability and schedules. Other airlines which include Easyjet, have also now followed suit, with more schedules to Dalaman during the Summer of 2018.

YDA Holdings who run the day-to-day operations of the airport recently released stats showing passenger numbers rising from 2,740,787 in 2006 to 4,382,083 in 2015. This is excellent news for Turkey as a whole, but mainly for the Tourist industry which is trying to rebound from a torrid 2015-2017. Dalaman isn’t the only airport getting a make-over though, and in October the New Istanbul Third Airport will be open for business, providing a major hub for more than 300 airlines, carrying passengers all over the world.
