Northern Cyprus Ticked All The Boxes

We decided we wanted to purchase a property abroad to use as a family holiday home and in the future spend some of our retirement years. Northern Cyprus seemed to tick all the boxes, climate, English widely spoken, drive on the left and a very low crime rate and offered much better value for money than the south of the island and we were determined to do our research and not be deterred by the propaganda written on some of the websites.

We approached a local company selling property in Northern Cyprus, Turkish Connextions and the Agent there (Jayne) dealt with all the travel arrangements for me and also accompanied me on the viewing trip.We travelled to Chelsea Village near Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus via Larnaca Airport in September 2007. The transfer took 1 hour 20 minutes, the road was good and crossing the border into the north was no problem.

My intention was that if Chelsea Village didn't offer something really special with stunning views I was going to travel on to Turkey with Jayne and look for a property there, but after opening the curtains on that first morning I think my mind was made up, the location was fantastic.At no point during my stay was I given any sales talk, the place sold itself. Northern Cyprus was more British than I had expected and very friendly with a great atmosphere.

The staff at Chelsey Village and Jayne took me around the site and the area and also helped me to choose my final fittings, they also helped me through all the legalities and made me feel very reassured. I travelled along the coast to visit other developments and saw as much of the country as I could during my visit, although I thought the Kyrenia area to be the most beautiful. We decided to purchase a 2 bedroomed apartment at Chelsea Village, its already being built and will be completed next summer. My family and I are going to Cyprus in the spring to look for furnishings for our new home, they haven't been to Chelsey Village yet and are really looking forward to their visit.
