Turkish Connexions will take care of everything

The fact you are reading this letter suggests to me, you are either considering an investment in overseas property, you already have one, or you just like dreaming of what may be possible “one day”. If you fall into either the first or last category, I hope this letter of recommendation helps you to decide on making the commitment, or convince you a house in the sun is not the impossible dream you may think it is !!

For many years, I had the misconception Brits leaving abroad were either retired company directors, lottery winners, the benefactors of “old aunt Maud’s estate” or maybe even putting the Inland Revenue’s tracing service to the test. They were certainly not from an ordinary working class background - how could they be ? Well, I’m pleased to say I was wrong, very wrong, let me explain..........

Having taken early retirement, I found myself with a great deal of time on my hands. Not knowing one end of a golf club to another, idling away hours in the nineteenth was not an option. Fortunately, one of my acquaintances had his own taxi business and so I approached him, with a view to renewing my driving and courtesy skills on the odd week-end. The odd week-end, turned into the odd week and now all I seem to do is while away the hours waiting for flights to arrive at all the local airports.

It was during such airport transfers that it soon became apparent, a vast number of people were infact, having more than one holiday a year, how could this be ? I asked myself. Well, not being one to dwell on a mystery for too long, I soon let curiosity get the better of me and tactfully enquired “ how can you afford three holidays a year”. The fact my passengers were still on the better side of thirty, their reply was somewhat unexpected - “We’ve got our own two bed apartment within four minutes of the Sea” they continued, “it’s brilliant, our family can all enjoy low cost holidays while our apartment goes up in value each year. By the time we decide to retire out there, it will be worth at least four times the purchase price” This conversation became more and more common over the months and I soon realised yours truly was missing out on something.

The interesting thing was, the name of Turkish Connexions kept cropping up as the property agents who had handled everything from flights to cutting keys. Not wishing to be excluded any longer from this obvious select band of foreign property owners, I made a completely unannounced visit to the Turkish Connexions Preston office. Within three minutes of my arrival, I had a mug of tea thrust into my hand with the offer of a bacon and egg butty to follow. Not being one to stand on ceremony, this impressed me greatly as I was obviously dealing with real, genuine people and not some pin-stripped property guru that wanted to impress with surreal surroundings, leather armchairs and speaking in a language unknown to the vast majority of us.

Jayne soon arranged a viewing flight and within weeks we were both heading to Bodrum. On arrival, I was taken to a fully furnished apartment that had previously been adorned with fresh fruit and flowers. Supplies of bread, tea, milk and sugar had also been placed in the fridge together with a fine selection of cheese, biscuits etc., The time was now approximately 3am and my “stay awake” pills were starting to wear off. “it’s been a long day, get yourself off to bed” I was told, “we will collect you around 1.30 tomorrow and take you on a tour of the area, we’ll have something to eat and then, if we still have time, perhaps see a couple of available apartments”. Now let’s be honest, not exactly the hard sell we’ve all been told about was it ? Like I told you, these are real people, just like you and me, the kind of people I would do business with.

Some days later I finally decided on a property that suited me perfectly (my wife was still back in England and so the judgement was on her behalf as well, it was either thank you darling or my solicitor will be in touch !!) the funny thing was, although I had viewed a number of high spec properties (You won’t be shown anything else) finished and ready to move in, the one I chose still had a JCB in the living room, no roof and builders bums everywhere. However, the property was being constructed by the same high quality builder and that gave me every confidence the apartment(s) would be finished to the same exacting standards.

Off I went with Jayne and Izzy (partners) to their local office were I was introduced to the actual builder. Jayne proceeded to type-up a loose form of agreement that required me to leave a small deposit to secure the property (mound of concrete) followed by a second payment some weeks later and a third nearer completion of the development. Now readers, having studied the rudiments of Good Business Practice at one of our countries finer universities, some of the things I was asked to do would send my lecturer to an early grave and give others the reason to believe I needed Psychiatric help. However, I believe in my own judgement and therefore went along with everything to a satisfactory conclusion. In this day and age, trust is a wonderful thing and if asked to do the same, I urge you to do so.

My wife and I have recently returned from Turkey, having spent two wonderful weeks buying furniture, eating good food and enjoying the Turkish hospitality. We both feel part of something very special, something I can only describe as the Turkish Connexions family. Friends, please believe me, Turkish Connexions will take care of everything and you can trust them implicitly. The nice thing is, they continue to be there for you even after purchase !!

Maybe we will meet around a cool drink one day and we can both wonder why the decision wasn’t made earlier. In the meantime, just call 07708 006535 if you would like to talk with either me personally.
