Side is a fabulous laid back, friendly coastal resort on the Mediterranean around 15kms east of Antalya on a small 800m length peninsula.
Side is situated on the Peninsula, flanked by two stretches of golden beach, surrounded by the sparkling waters of Mediterranean on both sides and bestowed with the endless archaeological wonders – Side has aptly prospered as one of the most popular resorts for holidaymakers from across the globe.
The West beach is sheltered and has shallow waters making it a popular place for families to spend the day in the sun. East beach is a windswept stretch of sand between the River Aras and the Med. Both beaches offer plenty of water sport activities such as jet-skis and banana boats, plus there are plenty of sunloungers available for you to sit back and relax, there are also beach bars so you can enjoy a drink whilst lounging in the sun.
In this pretty town, modern architecture, chic shops and late night bars stand with the ruins of an ancient city. Side enjoys a beautiful backdrop of the Taurus Mountains, it has a wonderful ancient harbour, beautiful beaches, splendid restaurants along the waterfront, lovely cobbled streets lined with interesting shops and plenty of history.
The old centre of Side offers a good selection of shops for tourists and some lovely restaurants. The resort has mini-markets for daily essentials, but if you travel over to Manavgat you will find the Migros supermarket which sells everything you could think of. Side also has a local market situated opposite the mosque and is held every Saturday. A larger market in Manavgat is held every Monday and Thursday.
A very popular activity in Side is Golf. If you travel over to Belek you will find some of the best golf courses in Turkey. There is a golf club situated closer, the Lykia Links club in Gundogdu which offers an 18 hole course with a 9 hole academy course.
If golf isn't your thing, Side offers much more. Why not go for a trek or mountain bike riding in the Taurus Mountains, or you could go water rafting down the River Manavgat and the beautiful Koprulu Canyon National Park. Nearby is the Sorgun Forest, a wonderful place to go horse riding. Within 10 to 15 minutes you can reach Manavgat, here you can take a boat trip over to the waterfalls, you can stop for lunch along the way. The ancient city of Seleukia is also worth a visit, here you will be able to see some of the most amazing Roman ruins.
ILICA is situated 5 to 10 minutes west from Side adjoining the beachfront area of Kumkoy. It is a friendly village with a local park with a children's play area, lovely bars and restaurants, it has mini-markets and a large farmers market held every Wednesday.
KUMKOY is adjoining to Ilica. Over the years the area has become increasingly popular with people buying a second home and with those who rent their properties out. Kumkoy offers a lovely shopping centre, great bars and restaurants.
MANAVGAT is famous for its river that runs through it, aswell as its waterfalls, all set within lush forests of the Taurus Mountains. Manavgat enjoys a beautiful landscaped riverside park which offers plenty of great restaurants, cafes and bars. A market is held here on a Monday and Thursday each week.
Side was once the trysting place of Anthony and Cleopatra, Side stands on a promontory. The ancient city of Side mingles with the new and the place has its own special charm. It’s a great place to buy a Property in Turkey.

Temple of Apollo-
Come and visit the incredible Temple of Apollo. This amazing temple can be found at the end of Side’s Peninsula and is a popular choice with the tourists. Side is built around many ancient ruins. The famous amphitheater can be seen at the opposite end of the temple. Visiting the temple in the late afternoon or early evening is recommended so you can catch the stunning view of the sun setting behind it. This truly is a sight that needs to be seen.
Under Water Museum-
The Side Underwater Museum is the first and only one of its kind in Turkey and Europe. Turkey’s first underwater museum, which includes 110 pieces of sculptures positioned on the seabed, 1.5 nautical miles off the coast of Turkey’s southern resort town of Side. The museum aims to demonstrate the interaction between art and environmental science and form a complex reef structure for marine life to colonize, inhabit and increase biomass on a grand scale. The sculptures were lowered into place at three different depth zones that will be accessible to all divers, whether amateur, semi-professional or professional.
Side has a few Horse Riding Centres that are open and will cater to all, whether you are an enthusiast or a beginner. Horse riding is offered for all ages from 6 years old. The riding centre is located around the resort and within the scenic pine forest of Sorgun and Titreyengol. This really does make a nice day out for all the family.
