As of the 2nd March 2020, tourists from six European countires will be allowed to travel over to Turkey visa-free. Visa restrictions will be lifted from Austria, Belgium, Poland, Spain. the Netherlands and the UK.
Tourists will be allowed entry into Turkey for up to 90 days per 180 day period. The decision has been made to help boost the tourism ties between the six European countries, the aim is also to further develop the economic, cultural and commercial ties between the countires.
Turkey has once again become a popular destination for tourists from the UK. Records show that over 2.5 million Brits visited Turkey in 2019. Also last year records show that 44.7 million foreigners came over to Turkey and 7.2 million Turkish expats also visited.
Turkey was the sixth most visited country in the world in 2019.
