About the location......
Altinkum is located on Turkey southwest coast. The resort has developed over the past few years and has merged with the lovely town of Didim. Altinkum has 3 magnificent beaches, but the nightlife, the vibrant bazaar, and ancient historical sites are equally big draws.
The area is scattered with many small coves and bays but there are three main beaches which are Main beach, Second and Third beach. The latter is popular for scuba diving, and Second beach is ideal for watersports. While the busiest, especially during the height of summer, is Main beach and this is probably because of its location in the centre beachfront promenade of Altinkum.
Altinkum has many different things to offer every age group, historical places like the ancient Temple of Apollo, all around this area small shops, bistros and restaurants have been restored in keeping with the area, cobbled roads and old fashioned style lights, a must for everyone to visit, especially at night time, pass through this area and you can go to the equally popular Mavisher night markets, a busy hub in the summer months.
Once there you can sit on the promenade and eat the traditional dishes and sample maybe the local raki, here you can watch the sunset on the Aegean, on a clear day you will see the Greek Islands which look so close. If this is not to your liking travel to the main resort of Altinkum, you will find a modern promenade, more shops, bars and restaurants here for every taste, there is a fun fair for the children and this has a much more tourist feel.
There is also the Marina, with its Yacht Club and Beach Club open to all, treat yourself to a day out here and be pampered, whilst swimming, eating and drinking, there are also some designer shops around to check out before you go home.
